Old man take a look at [your] life
by chuckofish
Okay, get this–today is Neil Young’s birthday
and he is seventy years old!
Well, the fact that he is old, makes me feel old. Zut alors, look at how the time goes past!*
Harvest, you will recall, was the #1 best-selling album in the U.S. in 1972 when I was in the 10th grade. Even I owned it, which is saying something.
So cut me some slack.
Happy birthday, Neil. You’re kind of a tool and a preachy one at that, but I’ll toast you tonight anyway and your survival to the ripe old age of 70.
*Clever inclusion of NY lyric

He wrote some very “deep” song lyrics. I can remember making entire conversations out of them in college — we thought it very funny. Also, fess up — you didn’t own that album until years later — probably 1980 — but who’s counting? 🙂
I did too have that album in 1972. Someone gave it to me for my 16th birthday!
Wow. I don’t remember that at all. Live and learn. I don’t think I ever really listened to it until I was in college, by which time it was almost ten years old.
This is classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6otmy3DAK8
Also, solid use of the word “tool” xo
Oh brother!
You are definitely one of my hippest friends!
You successfully put the song in my head!
