Quotations

Ralph Waldo Emerson, Representative Men (1850)
It never ceases to amaze me, especially in regards to my grown children, how right Emerson is.
Spending a few days with daughter #1 reminded me that she is such a quotation of this guy:
and also this gal:
What a lovely combination of grandparent quotations!

Love it. Great quotations, great portraits!
Thanks!
Mary looks so pretty in that portrait!
Yes, she does. Newell looks annoyed/petulant. (It is not a mug shot.)
What a great expression he has! It’s “are you finished yet?” “What’s taking so long?” don’t you think?
Hotties! I also think the portrait of Grandma Mary looks so Aunt Sarah, too. The eyes!
She was 23 in that picture–just like you!
You’re right, but I think it’s the eyebrows as much as the eyes! 🙂
I think Newell’s expression is a reaction to where the GD photographer made him place his hands… “Now cross your legs like so, place your hands here, and turn your head this way…”
