Fat Baby Friday

Here is a picture of our brother Chris when he was around 18 months old, judging from his diaper-enlarged pants and the fact that he is in Sedona, Arizona where our father taught at the Verde Valley School.
It was about 1952. Chris is holding his Kanga (and Roo) doll. He also had Winnie the Pooh and Piglet and Eeyeore.
I may have mentioned that our father was a big Winnie the Pooh fan and he enjoyed reading the stories aloud to us. I’m sure Chris enjoyed listening to the stories surrounded by his stuffed animals. Those were the golden years when for 5 years he was a happy only child.
Then sister #1 arrived.
Life was never the same. Oh well. C’est la vie.

Chris is so deadly serious in that last picture…
He’s a crankypants that’s for sure.
Well, he looks like he just got yelled at or he may just be bummed out that his little sister (who looks very happy) is getting all the attention. Truly a moment frozen in time.
Great pictures! He read us Winnie in the Pooh in turn, but now I feel deprived because I never got any stuffed animals to go along with the readings.
Also, you’ll be happy to know that I’ve staunchly upheld the ruin-older-brothers-life-and-then-laugh tradition that had clearly started by the time this second picture was taken.
Yes, I was always a devoted little sister who thought her brother was perfect. The feeling, sadly, was not returned.
At last you’ve confessed your true nature!
Ah, but you are so adorable! I love the happy smile, the sweet dress, and the almost-chubby legs!
I’ve always liked that picture of Chris with Kanga and that smile on Mom really reminds me of Susie.
That picture, unfortunately, is a fine example of Bad Photography 101 with more of the tire tracks in the foreground and little of the spectacular scenery in the back! But Chris is a cutie-pie.
Tres cute! I know how those golden years felt. Sigh.
I knew you would relate to that. Again, c’est la vie.
The final photo is PRICELESS! Mary can so relate.
