We’ll be coming willy-nilly, Lily

Tiger Lily:
Beat on a drum
And I will come
Peter Pan:
And I will come and save the brave noble red skin
Ugga wugga wigwam! I have always been a big fan of day lilies or, as we say in our flyover state, tiger-lilies. They are all over the place and they bloom for a long time during the hottest of weather. As a small child I was jealous because we did not have any in our yard. I really felt deprived. (Not that I ever verbalized this to my mother who no doubt would have gamely tried to add them to our garden.) Anyway, I have made sure that we always have them in any yard that we have lived in since I had any say in the matter.
Aren’t they great?

I’m partial to them because of that song!!
Everyone feels like a Broadway star when they sing this song, hands on hips, head flung back, belting it out for all they’re worth.
You are so right. When I was little I loved that song — I thought Tiger Lily was really cool. Didn’t you perform Peter Pan in grade school?
Yes, we did. All the first graders were Indians. Second graders were Lost boys. Third graders had real parts. I’m not sure that we did the musical version, however. I think we just knew the songs from seeing the Mary Martin version on television, which has never been available on VHS or DVD. We did have an LP, however, which is usually the way we rolled back in the day.
Tiger Lilys are nice flowers but never forget that they ARE POISONOUS TO CATS!!
Umm, good information.
Umm, this is very important. You can never be too careful!
