Throwback Thursday
by chuckofish
Here’s a summery-at-the-beach photo of three little ladies circa 1917–cousins, all named Catherine after their grandmother Catherine Rand Carnahan, after whom I am also named.
The oldest (top) is my grandmother Catherine Carnahan. The girl in the middle is her cousin, Catherine Carnahan. The baby is Catherine’s niece, Catherine Bays (daughter of her sister, Anna Carnaghan Bays).
I’m just saying…it’s a nice tradition.

I’m sure we’ll have another generation of Catherines soon enough π
Isn’t it a cute picture though? Someone obviously took it because they were three Catherines!
Gosh, this is great! I don’t ever remember seeing that picture before. And it IS a lovely name.
Catherine Bays was the sister of Marjorie Bays (Mother named her doll after her). They were the children of another Carnahan cousin who married Mr. Bays. The girl in the middle is Catherine Carnahan Sparling who send this picture and another one to Mother shortly before she (Mother) died. They had just gotten back in touch after many years because of Mother’s genealogical work.
Yes, I remember Mother talking about her. How sad that they had such a brief reunion. I wonder what ever happened to Catherine Sparling?
