Happy birthday, Mary and Dolly (and Buffy)
by chuckofish
You may recall that tomorrow (January 19) is the birthday of my mother and also of Dolly Parton (and Buffy the Vampire Slayer). I blogged about this last year. I won’t repeat myself, but I thought I’d post a picture of Mary when she was a wistful and athletic college student at Middlebury.
…and a picture of Dolly “in the good old days”.
“But there’s a story behind everything. How a picture got on a wall. How a scar got on your face. Sometimes the stories are simple, and sometimes they are hard and heartbreaking. But behind all your stories is always your mother’s story, because hers is where yours begin.”
― Mitch Albom, For One More Day
Happy birthday, ladies!

I never thought I’d see a Mitch Albom quote on your blog…But Happy Birthday to three fab ladies!
I was going to say the same, haha! BUT it is a good quote, as I love my mother’s stories.
I know, I know. And it is a good quote!
A lovely birthday post. And it is a good quote, whoever Mitch Albom is (pardon my ignorance). Should I know him?
He is a best-selling American author whose “inspirational” books have sold over 30 million copies worldwide. (“Tuesdays with Morrie” etc.). You intellectual in your ivory tower!
No, really, it’s just that I’m beyond (self)-help — too comfortable in my bad habits, although today I did do 10 minutes of zumba, which I watched on youtube. My attempts at keeping up with the gyrations of the very talented gay zumba leader had me in fits of giggles. I probably burned more calories laughing than exercising, but, hey, I’ll take what i can get.
We shall drink a toast to the lovely ladies!
