New Sarum picture Monday
by chuckofish
The other day I blogged about Old Sarum and New Sarum. Here is a picture of the boy at New Sarum (Salisbury Cathedral) in 1989, trying to climb up the grill, apparantly desperate to get into the church. Quelle monkey! He was 2 1/2 and wearing his engineer overalls and red Keds. A fashion plate even then.
The boy was in England for his aunt’s wedding. Here he is with daughter #1. And here they are at the wedding.
The wedding was not at Salisbury, but in the little local church in Titchfield. Lovely.

What adorable cherubs! I remember how Wheeler scandalized the locals at Salisbury. But you do not mention the cursed Chicken Pox and certainly the demeanor of the poor little boy in the bottom photo is in stark contrast to the top one — he’s obviously getting sick. And are those ghostly pockmarks on Miss Mary’s little face?
I try to blot the memory of the cursed chicken pox from my mind. Awful. Were the locals scandalized by the boy’s behavior? I guess I have blotted that too from my memory!
I vaguely remember someone asking us to control the child or maybe we just got dirty looks…I thought he was intrepid and a great climber to boot.
Now that you mention it, I do vaguely remember it. They probably didn’t appreciate his parent taking a picture of his bad behavior either.
Yes! That’s what I was going to point out!
Wheeler got a fair way up that fence.
Yes, he was quite a monkey. I remember being impressed at the time.
Woops! That comment was from Chamberville, not Chuckofish, although I’m sure she’ll concur.
Dualpersonalities is decidedly devoid of daughter #2
Alliteration unintended
