The Star of Bethlehem by Edward Burne-Jones
“And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.” (Matthew 2:11 KJV)
I love that angel, don’t you?

The angel is cool, but Mary looks a little droopy. I suppose we can’t blame her for being tired and a little overwhelmed…
The baby in “3 Godfathers” looks like a REAL newborn, scrawny and pinched!
The angel is floating and holding the star!
I also like how Jesus looks a little uncertain of these strange characters who have shown up. On the other hand, he sure doesn’t look like a newborn. And really, shouldn’t he be wrapped in some swaddling clothes?
